| 1 Dengang Amrafel var konge over Sinear, Arjok over Ellasar, Kedorlaomer over Elam og Tid'al over Gojim, | 1 And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations; |
| 2 gik de i krig mod kong Bera i Sodoma, kong Birsha iGomorra, kong Shin'ab i Adma, kong Shem'eber i Sebojim og kongen i Bela, det samme som Soar. | 2 That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar. |
| 3 Disse slog sig sammen i Siddim-dalen, det samme som Salthavet. | 3 All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea. |
| 4 Tolv år havde de været underkastet Kedorlaomer, men i det trettende år gjorde de oprør, | 4 Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled. |

| 7 Så vendte de om og kom til En-Mishpat, det samme som Kadesh, hvor de slog amalekitterne i hele deres område og også de amoritter, der boede i Haseson-Tamar. | 7 And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar. |

| 9 mod kong Kedorlaomer af Elam, kong Tid'al af Gojim, kong Amrafel af Sinear og kong Arjok af Ellasar, fire konger mod de fem. | 9 With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five. |
| 10 Siddim-dalen var fuld af asfaltgruber, og da Sodomas og Gomorras konger flygtede, faldt de ned i dem, mens de øvrige flygtede op i-bjergene. | 10 And the vale of Siddim was full of slimepits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain. |
| 11 De fire konger tog alle ejendele og alt spiseligt fra Sodoma og Gomorra og drog bort. | 11 And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way. |
| 12 De tog også Abrams brorsøn Lot og hans ejendele og drog bort. Han boede i Sodoma. | 12 And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed. |
| 13 Der kom en flygtning og fortalte det til hebræeren Abram, som boede ved amoritten Mamres Ege. Mamre var bror til Eshkol og Aner; de var Abrams pagtsfæller. | 13 And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram. |
| 14 Da Abram hørte, at hans slægtning var taget til fange, mønstrede han sine våbenføre mænd, der var født som hans trælle, 318 mand, og forfulgte dem helt til Dan. | 14 And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. |
| 15 Om natten delte han og hans folk sig, slog dem og forfulgte dem til Hoba, som ligger nord for Damaskus. | 15 And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus. |
| 16 Han bragte alle ejendelene tilbage. Også sin slægtning Lot og hans ejendele og kvinderne og folkene bragte han tilbage. | 16 And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. |
| 17 Da han vendte tilbage efter sejren over Kedorlaomer og de konger, der var med ham, gik Sodomas konge ham i møde i Shave-dalen, det samme som Kong-dalen. | 17 And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale. |
| 18 Melkisedek, Salems konge, kom med brød og vin. Han var præst for Gud den Højeste. | 18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God. |
| 19 Han velsignede Abram og sagde: "Velsignet være Abram af Gud den Højeste, skaberen af himmel og jord. | 19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth: |
| 20 Velsignet være Gud den Højeste, som gav dine fjender i din magt." Og Abram gav ham tiende af det alt sammen. | 20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all. |
| 21 Sodomas konge sagde til Abram: "Giv mig menneskene, og behold selv ejendelene." | 21 And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. |
| 22 Men Abram svarede Sodomas konge: "Jeg løfter min hånd til Herren, Gud den Højeste, skaberen af himmel og jord: | 22 And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth, |
| 23 Jeg vil ikke have noget af dit, ikke så meget som en tråd eller en sa-dalrem! Du skal ikke kunne sige: Jeg har gjort Abram rig! | 23 That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich: |
| 24 Selv vil jeg intet have. Men de unge mænd skal have deres fortæring. Og de mænd, der fulgte mig, Aner, Eshkol og Mamre, de skal have deres andel." | 24 Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion. |
