| 1 På den tid sendte babylonerkongen Merodak?Bal'adan, Bal'adans søn, brev og gave til Hizkija, fordi han havde hørt, at han havde været syg og var blevet helbredt. | 1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to Hezekiah: for he had heard that he had been sick, and was recovered. |
| 2 Hizkija blev glad over, at de kom, og han viste dem skatkammeret med sølvet og guldet, balsamstofferne og den fine olie, og han viste dem hele våbenkammeret og alt, hvad han havde i forrådskamrene. Der var ikke det, Hizkija ikke viste dem i hele sit palads og i hele sit rige. | 2 And Hezekiah was glad of them, and showed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that Hezekiah showed them not. |
| 3 Men så kom profeten Esajas til kong Hizkija og sagde til ham: »Hvad har disse mænd sagt, og hvorfra kom de til dig?« Og da Hizkija svarede: »De kom fra et fjernt land, fra Babylonien,« | 3 Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And Hezekiah said, They are come from a far country unto me, even from Babylon. |
| 4 spurgte han: »Hvad har de set i dit palads?« Hizkija svarede: »De så alt, hvad der er i mit palads. Der er ikke det i mine forrådskamre, jeg ikke har vist dem.« | 4 Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And Hezekiah answered, All that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures that I have not showed them. |
| 5 Da sagde Esajas til Hizkija: »Hør Hærskarers Herres ord: | 5 Then said Isaiah to Hezekiah, Hear the word of the LORD of hosts: |
| 6 Den tid skal komme, da alt, hvad der er i dit palads, alt, hvad dine fædre har samlet sammen indtil denne dag, skal bringes til Babylonien. Intet bliver tilbage, siger Herren, | 6 Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD. |
| 7 og nogle af dine sønner, som nedstammer fra dig, og som fødes for dig, bliver taget og gjort til hofmænd i babylonerkongens palads.« | 7 And of thy sons that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon. |
| 8 Men Hizkija sagde til Esajas: »Det ord fra Herren, som du har talt, er godt!« For han tænkte: »Der vil være fred og tryghed i min levetid.« | 8 Then said Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days. |
